Get Data
How It Works
The Trading Economics Excel Web Add-in uses a simple dropdown-based interface to help you get data. Here’s the general workflow:
Select a Category - Choose from the main category dropdown (Indicators, Calendar, Markets, Forecasts, Financials, Ratings, or More Data)
Select a Sub-category - A second dropdown appears where you select the specific type of data you want
Make Additional Selections - Depending on what you selected, additional dropdowns or input fields may appear:
- Dropdowns for selecting countries, indicators, categories, or symbols
- Date inputs for entering start and end dates (for historical or time-based data)
Click Get Data - Once you’ve made your selections, click the “Get Data” button to insert the data into your worksheet
Note: Different categories have different requirements:
- Some categories (like Markets when selecting Currency, Crypto, etc.) only need you to select the category and sub-category
- Others (like Indicators - Historical or Calendar - Custom) require additional selections like countries, indicators, and date ranges
- The interface automatically shows only the relevant dropdowns and inputs based on your selections
The examples below will help you understand how each category works.
